Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How Often Do I Register for Classes?
Only Once We are a month-to-month program! Your child will be automatically re-enrolled each month, ensuring a seamless experience. If you decide to discontinue, please let us know by the 20th of the month. Your family registration is valid for an entire year, and you can easily re-register online or at our front desk whenever you're ready
May I drop My Child Off For Classes?
Flips makes a concerted effort to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the premises. However, it is impossible to always distinguish an adult intent on abducting a child from a parent legitimately waiting for their child. Flips is NOT equipped to supervise children before or after classes. Parents of children who are unable to safely supervise themselves are advised to stay ON SITE during their child's class and be at appropriate pickup areas when class ends. Thank you for helping facilitate safety for all children.
Why Will Flips Make a Refund After the First Two Classes?
The real value in our programs can only be measured over the long run. However, kids learn on their own schedule and we know that if a child is not 'ready' for a particular program now, given time, she/he is likely to want to try again at some future date. We also know that you will be less hesitant to 'give it another try' if you feel you have not wasted your money the first time around.

Why Does My Tuition Remain the Same Even When the Gym Is Closed?
Tuition remains the same for every month of the year. Your tuition pays for an educational experience and not a specified number of classes. In any given year, some months have four classes and some months have five classes. On occasion, there will be a month with three classes for one reason or another. Over a year, typically, the average is slight over four classes per month. We make no distinction between long months and short months and we ask you do the same
Do You Offer Make-Ups?
We offer make-ups for missed classes in programs where doing so does not jeopardize the safety or integrity of the class. We want to clarify that we do not provide make-ups for regular gym holidays. Your tuition covers an average of four classes each month, ensuring you receive consistent value throughout your membership. Thank you for your understanding
Are Leotards Required For Participation?
While leotards are not mandatory for participation, all new members will receive a Flips Leotard or Flips shirt as part of our New Member Package. Many children find leotards to be more comfortable, but they are not required to join in on the fun!
What is the difference between the $55 New Member Package Fee and the $55 Annual Membership Fee?
This fee includes our New member package of a Flips leotard (or Flips t-shirt), tie-dye bag, sticker, and magnet, and is charged per child. This fee is to encourage consistency in attendance over the year as well. The benefits of any educational program comes from long term involvement and our choice to charge an annual administrative fee rather than slightly increasing tuition over the year is to encourage consistency. It may help to remind readers that some industries such as martial arts and health clubs opt for yearly contracts while others such as academic schools and some dance schools opt for semester payments. Our 'soft' approach still allows in/out flexibility for those families who need it for one reason or another.
How Progression Works at FLIPS?
At FLIPS, we believe every gymnast develops at their own pace. Our instructors follow structured progressions designed to help students build strength, confidence, and safe technique over time.
Because every child learns differently, students may spend different amounts of time working on the same skills or levels.
Skill Progression-
Gymnastics skill development occurs gradually and is based on each student’s individual readiness, strength, coordination, and confidence.
At FLIPS, instructors follow structured progressions designed to teach skills safely and appropriately. Before advancing to more complex skills, students must demonstrate:
• proper technique
• body control
• consistency
• safety awareness
Because of this, two students in the same class may progress at different rates — and that is completely normal.
Advancement Between Levels
Advancement between class levels is determined by the coaching staff based on a student’s readiness for the next level.
When evaluating progression, instructors consider several factors including:
• mastery of required skills
• strength and conditioning readiness
• body control and consistency
• ability to safely perform progressions
Students do not advance based solely on age, time in class, or peer progression.
Coaching Decisions
All decisions regarding skill progression and level advancement are made by our coaching staff to ensure the safety and long-term development of each student.
Parents are encouraged to support the learning process and allow instructors to guide students through the appropriate progressions.
If parents have questions about their child’s progress, they are welcome to speak with their instructor or one of our Hospitality Leaders.
Safety First
For safety reasons, instructors cannot allow students to attempt skills they believe a student is not yet ready to perform safely.
A student attempting a skill at another gym, at home, or in another setting does not necessarily mean the student is ready to perform that skill safely within FLIPS progressions.
Our instructors follow structured training progressions to ensure students develop the strength, technique, and confidence needed for long-term success in gymnastics.
